A restricted login does not tell you what has happened to your money. Ask the casino in writing whether the withdrawal itself is pending review, the account is suspended, or the account has been closed. Request the reason, the withdrawal reference and date, the amount held, and the next action required from you.
For a Michigan-regulated online casino, the withdrawal and account-status rules work together. A withdrawal generally must be processed within 10 business days unless the rule’s limited good-faith investigation exception applies. The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) says suspending an account does not remove the operator’s withdrawal obligations. What should you ask the casino first?
Send one clear message through the casino’s published support or complaint channel: “Please confirm whether my withdrawal is pending review, my account is suspended, or my account is closed. What is the basis for the restriction? Please confirm my withdrawal reference, request date, amount held, and the action you need from me.” Ask for the answer by email. Save a screenshot of the restriction notice before it changes, along with the cashier status, account balance and transaction history.
Check the exact website or app against the [MGCB’s authorized provider list](https://www.michigan.gov/mgcb/internet-gaming-and-fantasy-contests/authorized-online-gaming-and-sports-betting-platform-providers-in-michigan). Michigan’s rules and complaint route discussed here concern Michigan-regulated internet gaming; online casino rules differ by state. If support asks for identity documents, use the operator’s secure upload route and keep a record of what you supplied. The [KYC documents guide](/payments/casino-kyc-documents-before-cashing-out) explains how to prepare that record.
Is the withdrawal under review, or is the account suspended?
A pending withdrawal review concerns the payment request. Under Rule 432.655d, the operator generally must honor a withdrawal within 10 business days of the request. It may decline while investigating only if it has a good-faith belief that the player engaged in fraud or other conduct that would put the operator in breach of Michigan’s internet gaming law or rules. If it relies on that exception, it must notify you of the nature of the investigation and provide a further written status update every tenth business day from the original notice. The [MGCB’s final guidance](https://www.michigan.gov/mgcb/-/media/Project/Websites/mgcb/Internet-Gaming-and-Fantasy-Contests/Technical-Standards/20240826-Memo-LIGA-LSBA-Account-Withdrawal-Memo.pdf) says those notices must go to your registered email address and include a tracking reference. An investigation does not promise immediate payment.
A suspended account has separate access restrictions under Rule 432.659, including a restriction on withdrawing through the suspended account unless you initiated the suspension. Ask who initiated it and on what basis. The [MGCB’s final guidance](https://www.michigan.gov/mgcb/-/media/Project/Websites/mgcb/Internet-Gaming-and-Fantasy-Contests/Technical-Standards/20240826-Memo-LIGA-LSBA-Account-Withdrawal-Memo.pdf) expressly says suspension does not erase the operator’s duties under the withdrawal rule. If support says only that your account is “restricted,” ask it to explain both the account status and what is happening to the existing withdrawal.
What if the casino says the account is closed?
Closure is a different status from suspension. Rule 432.655d addresses withdrawal of funds from an open or closed account, subject to the rule’s exceptions and other applicable law. Rule 432.657 also provides for a remaining balance in an account closed by the player to be refunded under the operator’s controls. Ask the casino to confirm the closure date, the remaining balance, how it will return that balance, and whether any withdrawal is still under investigation. [Michigan internet gaming rules](https://www.michigan.gov/mgcb/-/media/Project/Websites/mgcb/Internet-Gaming-and-Fantasy-Contests/ActsandRules/Internet_Gaming_Rules_2020-8-26.pdf)
Keep a dated record of each status change. A closed-account message, a suspended-account screen and a pending-withdrawal entry may describe different parts of the same case; the operator should explain how they fit together. Do not deposit or place further bets to test whether access has returned.
When should you make a written complaint?
If the operator’s explanation is missing, inconsistent or unsatisfactory, file a formal written complaint through its published procedure. Include your account identifier, withdrawal date and reference, amount, a short timeline, screenshots and copies of relevant emails. State what you want resolved: confirmation of status, the basis for any investigation, required updates and the handling of your funds. Keep a copy of the complaint and its submission confirmation. The [casino complaints guide](/safety/casino-complaints-withdrawal-delay) has a broader evidence checklist.
Michigan Rule 432.641 requires the operator or platform provider to investigate a complaint and respond within 10 calendar days after receiving it. That complaint-response period is separate from the withdrawal rule’s general 10-business-day processing period. The complaint and response must be in writing. If you are dissatisfied with the response, the [MGCB complaint page](https://www.michigan.gov/mgcb/patron-disputes/internet-gaming-complaint-mgcb) asks whether you complained to the operator first and can provide its written reply. Submit your timeline, withdrawal evidence, complaint and reply through the MGCB’s listed complaint route. How can you protect yourself while the case is open?
Keep the disputed funds and your gambling decisions separate: do not make another deposit, increase stakes or cancel a withdrawal to see whether the restriction clears. If the delay is causing gambling-related distress, the [MGCB’s responsible gaming resources](https://www.michigan.gov/mgcb/resources/responsible-gaming) explain Michigan online self-exclusion and provide a link to the state’s 24/7 Problem Gambling Helpline. FAQ
Does a restricted Michigan casino account mean my withdrawal was denied?
No. Ask the operator in writing whether the withdrawal is under review, the account is suspended or the account is closed, and request the withdrawal reference, amount and reason for the restriction.
How long does a Michigan casino have to process a withdrawal?
The general rule is 10 business days after the request, subject to the limited good-faith investigation exception. If that exception applies, the operator must provide written notices and status updates under Michigan’s rules.
When can I contact the Michigan Gaming Control Board?
Make a written complaint to the operator first. If its written response does not resolve the matter, submit that response with your timeline and withdrawal evidence through the MGCB complaint route.
